NIGERIA: THE WORLD'S WEALTHIEST LOOSER

World's Wealthiest Losers - no doubt that is what we are.

Margaret Nicholas did a marvelous job writing that awesome and well versed book - The World Wealthiest Losers. The book detailed the life of rich, famous, well loved but greedy, immature Politicians, Celebrities, Businessmen and women, who had it all but also never lived a fulfilled life. Hence, I think I can be excused when the above mentioned book comes to mind when I think about the peculiar case of Nigeria. Nigeria to many Nigerians is a Wealthy loser.

For a nation so blessed and abundantly enriched with such enormous natural and human resources, that if well managed will make so many other world powers quake in their boots. We are the most populous black nation in the world with a population of over 150 million citizens.

In the Last 50 years, the world economy has been essentially driven by Petroleum products. Nigeria been the 6th largest producer of Petroleum products in the world, should be up there with the rest of them on the chart of most developed nations in the world. Where are we?

Before our domestic economy became completely crippled, Nigeria was the biggest exporter of so many goods, thus, making us an important contributor to the world economy. After independence we were filled with so much hope. We dreamed of living in  a society where all men will be treated equal and where we could live a life of fulfillment.

What went wrong? How did it get this bad? Where went all our hope and awesome dreams? When did we loose sight of our desired destination? Who led us down this gloomy road of destruction? Obviously, we as Nigerians have so many unanswered questions.

In science, evolution is usually associated with the metaphorical change of something (or someone) from one stage to another higher stage, usually a better stage. Nigeria in its unique stage evolved from the Nigeria of 1960s to the Nigeria of 1970s, then to Nigeria of !980s and !990s and now we are stuck with the Nigeria of the 2000s: where mass corruption at all levels of government and public parastatals is now the order of the day. An evolution of Nigeria from a well organized society to a state of near anarchy.

Every thing went wrong. Our belief in social justice got shattered like shards of broken glasses. We are continuously receding into an abysmal, disgraceful and anti-social society. We have not only fallen into the bottomless pit of social corruption, but also religious corruption, the corruption of thoughts, corruption of the soul, as well as the corruption of mental capacities and capabilities, amogst several others.

Our system has deteriorate to the point that we make heroes out of unlikely individuals. The youths have lost their bearing and are now struggling in a survival economy. (expect an article on SURVIVAL ECONOMY). Every generation after another are less hardworking than the last because of our depressing economy, but are now in search of "get-rich-quick"means, which are usually illegal.

For a long stretch of time, we have been ruled by men who hardly can define NATIONALISM, talk more of understanding what leadership entails. They have refused to understand that leadership isn't about individual interests or benefits, but about collective interests of the over 150 million Nigerians. The plot has been lost.

Our ever so present curse is to be governed by men who does not have the slightest idea of governance. However, these men are well versed in exploiting our porous system and carting away with billions of Naira every year. They are very able at looting our treasury and misappropriating public funds. What is been practiced in Nigeria is the modern model of COLONIALISM. Much more worse than the infamous colonialism of the past century and even neocolonialism.

Things are so bad now that the suggested solution by our present day leaders to our many problems is to set up committees to look into those problems and eventually sweep them under the carpet. Our leaders think the grip of corruption on our life is exaggerated. What a Farce.

Where next do we go from here? Do we continue our downward spiral in the bottomless pit of corruption and destruction?
Oh! My Nigeria, The Wealthiest Loser.

Merry Christmas to all the underprivileged Children of the worl

Merry Christmas! I wish it could be possible for everyone to be indeed merry, not just by saying it as a form of greeting but as a reminder that we are all jolly in the present circumstance(s) we find ourselves.

All over the world, there are hundreds of million Children that wont be merry this season, they wont have the opportunity to experience the excitement of the season, not by their own volition but because they are being denied the opportunity to enjoy this season.

For me, Christmas isn't a period of religious celebration but rather a period of happy gathering with family and friends, to emphasise the bond of Love, togetherness, and the spirit of Sharing amongst one another. We are all lucky to have this opportunity to have an amazing family and probably a bunch of loyal friends.

I think we need to redefine what christmas celebration should mean to us, it should be a day we aspire to make the less privileged people, especially the children, merry. We should make them feel the love and excitement of Christmas.

Here is a Merry Christmas to all the children of the world and a very big thank you to all those who will strive to make a difference

Friendship: Dedicated to a Friend who is more of a Brother than a friend, on his Birthday

Would the world be a better place with keen friendship and a deep understanding of the shortcomings of one another? Would there be peace if all nations know the true virtue of friendship? Would there be lesser uprisings, chaos and crisis if We all understand and uphold the real virtue of friendship and Brotherhood? These are a few of the questions I ask myself whenever I think about the joy and bliss I feel from been able to experience true friendship and Brotherhood from A friend like no other, Muammed Lemu Salihu.

About 13 years ago, we were enrolled into J.S.S. 1 Emerald as youngsters and we became seat-mates from the moment we first spoke. We never envisaged to develop a bound this strong. We became so close that we decided we were going to be getting same grades in our school works and I can even remember Moh telling his mum he has a friend that they have an understanding to get the same grade in school works and his mum laughed at him.

This isn't a Biography so I wont go further into the story of our early days. However, I will like to state that our friendship, sacrifices, dedications, quarrels, and understanding were worth it cos they have gotten us this far with more to come from us.

Muhammed, you are a friend indeed and a brother everyone needs. If I have ever offended you, forgive me.

This is to wishing you a Happy birthday and a Long and Happy life here and in the Here-after.

Cheers to our friendship, Mate.

Knowing what to find, Culled from Deb-nife Oluwatosin

It’s better to have nobody, than to have someone who is half there, or doesn’t want to be there.
No matter how much it hurts today, don't worry because someday all the pain will just become a story you thought would never end. But it will. The pain won’t be there forever. All you need is to accept that things would never be the same again~
You can’t waste time over missing something in the past. Life changes, people grow up and grow apart, and you accept that. Yet you can’t stop thinking of how good it used to be; afraid you’d never experience it again, afraid you’ve already lived it and already lost it.
It's all about new beginnings, laying solid foundations and building strong relationships. Everything we want is in front of us~
Always remember that--TRUE Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at it destination full of hope.

Valentines Day

No one deserves The Love and Joy of Valentines day more than The Little children of this world, most especially the Unprivileged Kids. It is true that one of the major cause of A Troubled ADULTHOOD is a LOVELESS CHILDHOOD. Millions of kids all over the world, most especially in Third World Countries, have been denied all the happiness, joy, care and freedom that could be associated with LOVE. War, Poverty, Corruption, Child-Trafficking, Illiteracy, etc., have played a major role in denying Children and Adults alike what Love entails.
Children who should be revelling in the warmth of a happy home are wandering the streets and highways, hawking, begging and dying. We see these things everyday, Saddening.
I would rather not go further because my heart bleeds to know many of us Adults were denied Love and care as Kids and same is still happening so many years after.
Happy Valentines day to All the Children of the world, May God provide a means to find Joy, Love and Care because you deserve the best.

Letting Go culled from Deborah Monebi's Blog

Letting go…

Not only were Sandra and Grace best of friends, they also happen to be each other’s confidant.Life for both of them were completely different,Sandra was born into so much affluence, she had the love and care from her very educated parents .Grace on the other hand was abandoned by her parents,a good Samaritan saw her and took her to a government orphanage. She lived with so much criticism, rejection, and abuse in the orphanage. She never stopped wondering why her parents left her .
Sandra and Grace paths crossed in the university, and instantly they took to each other. They were often termed ‘twins’ by their close friends, they spent and shared most moments together and like every other young person, they found love in their undergraduate years.Unfortunately ,Sandra was jilted by the guy she was supposedly engaged to. Months passed, grace watched her friend change from the once lively young lady to a moody  and depressed person.Time they say heal wounds, that’s what grace thought, but she was wrong.
Five years later, grace is now married  with kids to her long term lover ,but  her friend’s life seems to be taking a downward spiral. One afternoon while having lunch together,Sandra  said  ‘’ I don’t seem to get it,I work so hard ,try my best, yet the management complains about my attitude, they are not even thinking of getting me promoted, and as for my relationship status…..i really work so hard to love and make it work, but it’s  not working.it’s either I call it quit,or the guys do’’
In a very soothing voice, Grace replied’’ all you just have to do ,is to let go…let go of all your anger, resentment and all that.’’ If you let go a little, you will have a little peace, if you let go a lot ,you will have a lot of peace.
Just like Sandra and grace,we have all been hurt by another person at some point or the other, we were treated badly, hearts were hurt, and trust was broken.while the pain is longer, sometimes, the pain lingers for too long.we relive the pain over and over and have a hard time letting go.we get trapped in a cycle of hurts and anger ,and miss out on the beauty of life.
The ability to achieve forgiveness and let go of past hurts is one of the most critical challenges many of us face  on the road  to attaining personal peace and happiness.Forgiveness does not mean you are erasıng the past,or changıng what has happened. It does mean you are letting go of anger, pain ,and you are moving on to a better place.Letting go is part of our growth process.we cannot move on to new while continuing to cling on to old.By embracing forgiveness, you embrace peace, love ,gratitude and joy.
It’s not easy ,but you can learn to do it.
‘’Don’t let today’s disappointments cast a shadow on tomorrow’s dreams’’
Remember this words and let them linger "All you just have to do ,is LET GO…let go of all your anger, resentment and all that. If you let go a little, you will have a little peace, if you let go a lot ,you will have a lot of peace."

Longshot

Today was a test of courage, strength, believe, trust, dedication, faith and indeed Love. We almost lost it all, I almost gave up as well but something stirred in me and made me realise letting it all go wasn't a right decision to make. If there is one lesson I learnt tonight, It is that "In the face of adversity, remain strong for your partner even if things seem bleak, hopeless and uncertain. Moments like these makes relationships fail but it is also moments like these we all need to stay strong and stubborn even in the face of adversity.

I made a difficult decision today even when I thought there is nothing more I could have done, but deep down inside I knew and know I made the right decision, not for me, or her but for us; and I hope she remembers to thank me someday, lol. Who ever said relationships are beds of Roses? This is worth fighting for and we shall soldier on with each other's shoulders there to soak away out tears when need be.

I reaLly don't know why am writing this because I have never been one to make my private life public. However, I believe if you are reading this, its because I want you to know and learn that Love is worth every atom of your strength if you must fight for it and trust me when I tell you this "Everything you fight for will always be cherished by you"

I hope someday I will blog about this again and say "I won the War and dominated the battle" and I hope the tears welling up in my eyes at this moment will someday be sheared as tears of "Triumphant Soldier of Love and all it stands for"

Excuse my mistakes because this isn't a preconceived article, it is an emotional out-poor that couldn't be edited or restructured. Don't forget something "Work hard if You really Want it"

TRIBUTE TO NASH

This is a tribute to a person I don't know much about but I have come to wish she didn't pass away because someone special to me is devastated about her death.

There is nothing as mysterious as seeing a young, pretty, ambitious and talented person die prematurely without living up to half of her potential. Then imagine this young and Lovely Lady passing away unannounced; there is nothing more pathetic.

4 days ago, Nash laughed and chatted with a dear friend of hers and they even made plans for lunch the next day. But it never happened, she passed away later that night. How sad that to know to know your dear friend passed away a few hours after being with her.

I don't know Nash, but I can infer she is an amazing person from the way she has been mourned and remembered. Someone special to me has been crying and mourning about the demise of this lovely lady because she was a dear friend.

When young people die, I feel the world has lost another potential star, another potential talent, another potential leader, another potential hero or heroine. It feels so strange like a blanket of cloud has covered an already grey sky. It seems so unfair but who can question God?

Its not the death of a Loved one that pains, its the overwhelming fact that we can't talk to them nor hold them nor laugh with them nor see them or do the things we used to do with them, ever again. That is so difficult to accept, its the hardest and most depressing fact of all.

Nash, may God give you the peace that we struggle daily to get on earth, may he grant you eternal rest, may the angels welcome you with open arms and may your soul rest in perfect peace.
May God grant her family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss and the inner strength and peace to know she is in a better place.

Tribute to The Fallen Heroes

At about this same time, 8:47am, on the 17th of September 2006 ( exactly 5 years ago), about 10 Officers were hugging their families goodbye, hoping to be gone for only a few days. Goodbye honey, they said to their wives; goodbye darlings they said to their children; see you all soon they told them all.

Some hours later, those goodbyes became FINAL goodbyes. How strange life blows could be. A very pathetic and sad day it could have been for the loved ones of the departed souls.

5 years on, here we are remembering them, with sorrow, a heavy heart, saddened heart, but despite all these, we will still endeavour to have a smile on our faces because of the impact they had while still being in our midst. They will always be remembered.

My Friend and Brother, Muhammed Lemu felt the pain of loosing his loving father in that plane crash, May you always have reasons to smile and May God exit any possibility of sadness in your life and that of your family.

Signed KAY

Love and Likeness

Love and Likeness – an encompassing difference
The first thing that springs to mind is “What is Love?”, but the rhetorical question to put the question to rest is “Is LOVE definable”. Basically (to my understanding), Love is unfathomable. This is so because people have different perspective about what love entails.
I won’t discuss what my own perspective of love is, so as not to upset your own view about the term itself (hahahaha). However, it will be so cool to ask yourself if love does really exist. Does it?
Don’t worry; you don’t have to tell me, I already know what you think about it. You are right; whatever you have in mind is correct. Am serious, I know what you think about love, and am telling you you are right.
To some, Love is only fictional and only exists in the spiritual realm, so cannot be interpreted as a feeling between human.  I will expatiate on this view. They ask, Can you Love a person the way you Love your Omnipotent God or can you have a feeling so immense that nothing can come between you and your love?
Food for thought....

Left or Right

To go Left or Right, what to do is what has got me thinking. When life puts you at any point, you have got to decide what direction you wanna follow. its like been on a cross road and you have to decide what direction you have to follow.
Am about getting to that kind of cross road, and the question am asking myself is Where do I go, TO GO LEFT OR TO GO RIGHT?

Love

I never knew Love could feel this way, its like light in the darkness of an abyss, like tree of olive in the desert. you smile without been prompted, you think about each other without even knowing what you are doing, its the best feeling ever.

Little Things

I love details. I believe every little thing, said, done or appreciated means a lot in every given relationship. Over the years Ladies tend to think that only they deserve to be told sweet things, to be shown attention,  or needs to be appreciated more et al. But that is totally wrong, guys also have egos, and we hate to show things we dont think or those feelings we feel wont be appreciated by the opposite sex. I love it when a lady does simple things like sending me unexpected sweet messages, whispering sweet and lovely things into my ears, calling me to say I miss you and hanging up, wink at me when we are in the midst of people, etc. SIMPLE THINGS MATTERS.

I bet everyone will agree with me that relationships will be more interesting and meaningful with more details. Try this lilttle things and see what happens
